My wife had been wanting a lever action .22lr for a long time, and the natural choice was Henry. Here is her Golden Boy that I bought for her for Christmas last year. She has put up with me for 12 years, hope she doesn't get smart one day and use it on me. ;+)
(The stand is one that I built custom for the gun. Next week it will be mounted to a cleaning station made of walnut with brass hardware (to match the .22 shells that are used to hold the uprights to the lateral piece via tenon joinery). I honestly believe that if he were alive today, John Wayne would kill Chuck Norris with his bare hands!

Thanks! That is a sharp looking gun too! I have heard nothing but great things about the 10/22's, seems like the .22 caliber to have. I honestly believe that if he were alive today, John Wayne would kill Chuck Norris with his bare hands!

I bet that thing is a little sweetheart to shoot! I have not gotten into plinking until recently (last time I shot a .22 before last year was as a teen) , but man, what a blast! I had no idea what I was missing. I honestly believe that if he were alive today, John Wayne would kill Chuck Norris with his bare hands!

Those are great looking plinkers guys. I really like three Henry too. I've looked at the Henry .22 (not the golden boy) and man was it a sweet feeling little gun. I think I need one. So many guns and do few funds. What's a feller to do?

Thank you Colonel! To be honest, I didn't get the whole "lever action" thing, but Tiffany really seemed to want one, so I got it for her. Last Christmas day, we went outside with some bottles of water and other various unlucky targets, and loaded ol' Hank up. She fired about ten rounds, then she graciously let me shoot. I finished off the other five rounds, reloaded, shot those, reloaded, and got about half way through those before she gave me "the look!". I figured it was time to let her have at at again. Don't know what it was about that little rifle, but I get it now... man, is that thing fun! You are spot on, the gun really feels solid, and feels fantastic in her small hands as it does in my big bearpaws. There just is no replacement for quality craftsmanship! You definitely should get one, they are the most fun you can have with your pants on. I honestly believe that if he were alive today, John Wayne would kill Chuck Norris with his bare hands!

Just finished changing my Sabatti 1822 Sporter into a mini practical rifle. The 1822 is a heavy barrelled, all steel, well made rifle made in Italy for EAA. It uses the Ruger 1022 magazine format but other than that it is a stand-alone design. A little caution is required when stripping down as there are many springy things in there!
The stock is 2 pieces of 18mm ply glued together and inserted into an old, re- profiled, M37 pistol grip that I had lying around, the butt plate is walnut, with 6mm steel dowels to reinforce the glue joint of the 2 stock halves. The fore end is a remodelled MP5 (replica) quad rail front end and wears an angled front grip and 30mm red/green parallax free dot sight. the end cap is the tail cap from the M37 pistol grip. The magazine is an Archangel Nomad and the ambidextrous mag release is formed from 10mm aluminium bar. The moderator is a requirement of the range where we shoot mini rifle. The end result is probably not the prettiest rifle on the block, but it fits me and balances well. At the end of the day it can be returned to sporter mode in about 5 minutes, so effectively 2 rifles in one. We in the UK cannot own full bore semi auto rifles so this is about as close as we get to the M4 M16 type of rifle. Personally, I could not justify the cost of a S & W 1522 which is the competition must have at the moment. This cost about 25% of the price of a 1522 with the same add-ons and magazines. |

Looks like a nice upgrade...
