My quick thought would be $1000 to $1500. Of course it depends on the condition.

Regardless of year of manufacture or maker, prices for original USGI .45s have increased greatly in recent years. They are out there, but sellers usually ask even more than the figure Donald mentioned for a nice example with a WWII holster. But for a private sale, I'd say $1200 to $1500 would be a fair price for an Ithaca 1911A1 with a holster.

One must always remember that there is a difference between "Its value" and "What someone is asking". I paid $700 for mine three years ago, but the guy needed the money, more than he wanted the gun. Donald

Good point. At the last gun show I attended vendors were asking over $2000 for garden variety USGI 45s. But I doubt if any actually sold at those prices. Still, an original WWII Ithaca 1911A1 in decent condition for $700 is one heck of a bargain these days.

BTW, Ithaca and Remington Rand WWII 45s are usually priced about the same in equal condition. Colts normally bring a little more. The U. S. Switch & Signal guns are much higher. Singer made 45s are the stuff of legends - only 500 were made.

I think it also depends on if your wanting to buy a WWII .45
or a Ithaca WWII .45

a factory original Ithaca .45 would demand mega premo bucks ..
it is extremely rare to find any armory gun that age unmolested.

quite often in the military parts are mixed or replaced, so most likely the a gun will have parts from 2 or 3 manufacturers.
that said it's not uncommon for 911 purists to go back thru and reassemble them per manufacturer.

so basically a 100% Ithaca made 911 will command higher prices then one of mixed parts ,how much more is depends on the condition

Twistedoak is right. When I said "garden variety USGI 45s" I was talking about those that would have been typical government issue when the gun was still used by our military. Many were arsenal refinished and/or had replacement GI parts. But even they fetch prices in the $1200+ range today if they are in good condition otherwise.

An all original WWII Ithaca (or any of the other companies) 1911A1 is indeed hard to find and will bring a premium on the collector market. And it takes close examination by someone who knows what he is doing to identify that it is indeed all original.

Note that we are not talking about WWII guns that have been commercially modified - refinished, adjustable sights or other commercial parts added, etc. You'll see a lot of those and they can be had for 'shooter' prices.

I am brand new to this site, and don't want to hijack anybody's thread, but I can't seem to figure out how to post my own subject.

At any rate, I have an Ithaca M1911A1 US Army pistol in 45 ACP but in a nickel finish. I'll try to post some photos but I'm almost as bad with a camera as I am with the computer.

Does anybody know anything about this pistol. I just inherited it from a Grandfather in Law...

Many thanks in advance.
