I have a Model 51 with a broken link. Schematic part #30. I have looked everywhere and can't find one. The rest of the shotgun is in very good shape.

The broken slide is common. It can be welded. Where are you? There would likely lots willing to buy your gun and how much do you want? Is it all there? What gauge?

did you try calling les at diamondgunsmithing.com?
he services 51s. of course a lot depends on the gauge.i think the links are one of the few gauge specific parts that of course is if you want to keep and shoot the gun. however if your just wanting to get rid of the gun.... what gauge? |

Model 51 is complete and is 12 Ga featherlite, no rust, blueing excellent and very little scaring on wood stock and forearm. has been well taken care of. Only one side of the link is broken and won't let the hammer go forward. I did contact Diamond Gunsmithing and he said that the link could be welded and suggested sending the whole shotgun to be welded and inspected. I live in Kansas and don't really want to send it all the way to New York not knowing the total expenses with shipping, handling, welding, repairs, etc! I don't know what it is worth, just that it is a really pretty gun and wish it wasn't broke.I haven't found any gunsmiths around here that wants the job!

I have an acquaintance that specializes in old firearm parts. I will contact him tomorrow and see if he has one and how much it would be.

not counting the shipping etc ...
this is a pure guess ,but i'm guessing it would cost about $150 to have the link rewelded ,the 2 buffers replaced and a new action spring +the labor. a parts gun will sell for about $100 a nice gun in working condition sells for around $350-400 |

Thanks everyone for the info and recomendations, I think that I will get in touch with Diamond Gunsmithing and get my 51 repaired. It is too nice of a gun to sell for parts.

Good for you. If you had sold it, you would be sorry and have to go out and buy another. Donald.

I think that is a wise decision
I hate seeing M51s parted out im unsure of how many 51s Ithaca turned out ,and over the years I know many were cannibalized esp after the parts ran out... but that means a fully working 51 is only gonna get harder and harder to find as time goes on but it will always be a niche gun. I see 51s as a sleeper ,they are uncommon but are heading to the rare category fast. nows the time to fix up one while there still cheap |

I did contact the gunshop here that specializes in parts for old guns. Unfortunately he did not have the link.
