I have a sxs serial # 230080 Damascus barrel, with a pointer engraved on the side
it is also swamped "1 1/2" with "16" directly underneath.
Am I correct that this is a 1926 LeFever Nitro Special?
The gun is in excellent condition; what ammunition is safe to use in it?
confirming model

If it has Damascus barrels and a pointer on the side of the frame, it sounds more like an Ithaca Flues gun made in 1912. If that is correct, and it is a 16 gauge, it was made with 2 9/16" chambers. I would advise you not to shoot modern shells in it.
I don't think any of the Nitro Specials had Damascus barrels. The Nitro Specials are usually marked "Lefever Nitro Special" on the top of the right barrel. |
