I have a 1912 FLUES 20GA S/S WITH THE HUNTING DOG ENGRAVED ON BOTH SIDES. 2 3/4 CHAMBERS, SN 217603. THE BARRELS ONLY MEASURE 22 3/4 INCHES. BRASS BEAD FRONT SIGHT. HAS THIS BEEN CUT DOWN AND IF SO DOES IT EFFECT THE VALUE? ENGRAVING IS LIGHT ON THE RECIEVER.OVERALL THE GUN IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. GOING BY WHAT I SEE ONLINE I WAS GOING TO ASK 850.00.

If it has a front bead, the odds are it hasn't been altered. Usually they never install a bead after it has been cut. Check the muzzle to see if the space between the ribs has been filled or not. If there is a hole, it most certainly has been cut. If it is filled it most likely has not, although it still could have been resoldered. Shorter barrels like that were not that uncommon. I have seen a few that were in the 20/24 inch range. They were popular with upland hunters, especially English upland hunters.

20 gauge short barrels, how is the case coloring on the receiver? I'd say $850 isn't unreasonable. If you have really bright case coloring, you might squeeze another $50-100 out of it.
However if the barrels were cut, you could drop 20-40% from the price.
