In my opinion the Ithaca X-15 Lightning was the best 22 semiauto ever made.
My brother bought one new in 1966 and still has it.
I wish I would have bought one too.
I hope Ithaca will think of remaking this fine semiauto 22 in the future.
Anyone own one or any one have any comments on the Ithaca X-15

What scope mounts are you using? I am having a hella of a time finding mounts for this gun. I inherited it form my Dad. Great gun but would like to put a low pwr scope on it.

Have never seen an Ithaca X-15 or its earlier version the X-5 but from pictures they seem to look a lot like the Winchester Model 77.Were they a copy of the Winchester?

It looks brand new and you have the box, that is terrific! Don't let it go, you won't find another like it anytime soon they are very hard to come by.

I have my Dad's old ithaca x15 .22 cal rifle.

I took it out to shoot and it works well, but i am not sure how to clean it. It appears that I have to take the trigger/safety/hammer assy off, and remove the magazine guide, but that does not do much.

Should I remove the large roll pin at the rear? I did not want to do that until I heard from someone that has done it. Due to the difficulty in cleaning this rifle I think once cleaned I will just hang it up on my wall.

I believe it was manufactured by the original Ithaca gun company in New York. I believe my dad bought it around 1966 or 1967. I would like to clean it completely and oil it up one last time.
