Hello all.
I recently inherited 3 Ithaca shotguns
1. Model 37 with poly choke serial number 331...
2 model 280 12 gauge sbs
3 model 280 20 gauge sbs
My question, i have my first deer hunt this year and was wondering if is there a rifled barrel avail for the m37 or do I need to shot buck shot only
Thx in advance

I am assuming you mean a 6 digit serial number beginning with 331 such as 331xxx. If so, the answer to your question is no. Ithaca 37s prior to serial nbr 855,000 used a helical thread on the interrupted threads that attach the barrel. Each barrel was fitted to its mated receiver, and serial nbr'ed to that reciever. It is very very rare that one barrel will fit to another gun without having precise machining done to the barrel face and shoulder to time it to the mating receiver. In which case then, it can not be used back on the original receiver it came from. After 855,000 the barrel threads were changed and became truly interchangeable (well within manufacturing tolerances interchangeable) within gauge. |

Thx Dr
It's such a nice piece, part of me didn't want to bring it deer hunting anyway. Lol |

You can always use it as an excuse to get another gun.......
I have a couple of the fixed barrel Ithacas in 12ga. They have 24" rifled tubes on them. While it has been over 18 yrs since I hunted deer, I still won't part with them. Now that hunting season is over, with some careful "hunting" you could track one down, if you wished. Post up a pic of your Ithaca..... |

A deerslayer would look nice in the safe next to the others.
