I heard on the news real today that an old cannon that was being restored at New York Central Park was found to still be loaded with active gun powder. I Goggled it and it seems as though the cannon was salvaged from a British ship shortly before the Civil War and was never checked before it was put on display in the park. Apparently the British had loaded and sealed the cannon before the ship was sunk and stayed sealed all of this time. Wow!

They probably spiked it to render it temporarily useless if it fell into the hands of Washington's Army by hammering a nail,(spike) into the vent effectively sealing it, a common practice when a gun was about to be lost.

Sad update. The cannon has been removed and destroyed due to Bloomberg/Cuomo's liberal gun policies as well as the fact that it is charged with more than 16oz. of powder. :+)
I honestly believe that if he were alive today, John Wayne would kill Chuck Norris with his bare hands!
