Hi. I am attempting to learn what I can about the Ithaca 1911 that my brother has. The serial number appears to pre-date anything I can find online that lists dates of issuance by serial number. The intials "RIA" are stamped below the serial number...I understand that may indicate the inspector who approved the weapon for distribution and use. Any tidbits of information that will help me develop the history of this weapon would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have not yet contacted Ithaca. However, I have been watching YouTube videos produced by MrColt45 and I now believe the weapon is actually a Colt 1911 produced in 1918 (based on serial number) and the slide, which is stamped with the Ithaca Gun Co. stamp, is a replacement part.

Hi
RIA indicates a Rock Island Arsenal rework. Does the slide have a roll mark on the right hand side? Pictures would be a big help Thanks Greg |
