Does anyone know when they were introduced into the M37 line? I read the late 1980s, but would like someone to verify that.

Thanks!

Oh okay, thanks. May have found a deal and the owner says it has a rifled barrel, but the serial of the gun predates that time.

Maybe the DS barrel was purchased later? Could a rifled barrel fit an early '80s M37?

in 1970 they started marking DS barrels with a "RS"rifled slug id.
this was still a smoothbore ,but was made to tolerances specificly for rifled slug ammo.

in 88 they decided to accually rifle the barrel.

now since the interchangeble barrels started much earlier it would be possible to use an later made rifled bore on an earlier reciever

Like twisted said, Somebody probably purchased the gun and then bought the barrel later on.
