my local shop got a deer slayer in in great condition but the sales guy said the owner took it to a gunsmith and there was unknown issues and the guy sold it. they want $200 for it.

the stocks checkered, rifled barrel.

any idea what the problem could be or if this is worth the money?

don't want to spend 200 and dump 500 into it.

Welcome to the Ithaca Owners Forum !!

Unknown issues ?...and now the local shop has it for sale !?

I would pass...especially if the gunsmith didn't / couldn't fix it...and "the shop" doesn't care to divulge the problem.

Plenty more M37s around...

That's my 2 cents...

well I called the smith and he said the gun was never broken it went to be cleaned up and the owner didn't want to pay the price afterwards so he gave it to them.

m3700 852 is the last 3 of the serial number. im thinking of picking it up.

That would make it a Kings Ferry gun. It is one of the ones from the middle years, about 96 or 97, which means it is probably a pretty nice one.

$200 seems like a steal for a rifled barrel version.

I paid a hair more for my Hogslayer.
