Sweet! You are exactly one Ithaca richer than I am!

That really is a beautiful firearm, and the thing I keep hearing that fascinates me most about Ithaca is just what you mentioned, about the gun being 40 years old and still in service! I have seen stories like these mentioned more hear among the few dozen members than I have anywhere else among hundreds of forum members!

Because we don't seem to have a general chat area ( yet ;) ) and I'm not sure where to post this next tiny story. I'm gonna through it in here. The whole Ithaca thing has been on my mind for a few days now. I've owned this thing for about a yr. Never thought much about it ,then I find these forums. Maybe there's a following and it's really worth something.
In the interim I have been on the lookout for a 20 Ga ( shoulder saver) semi auto shotgun. Today I stopped at one of the local pawn shops and what does the guy show me? ( after we looked at 3 autos)
But nothing less than a 37 20Ga feather light. I took a quick look at the model number and told the guy this is no spring chicken. Later looked the number up and it's a '68 model. In a we bit better shape than mine is in. He's asking 599. Which I think is a bit high, I am open to hear what everyone else thinks about this price.
Is this an omen? Ithacas coming into my life like this... Coincidence? Am I destine to start collecting these guns. Or should I just play the lottery this week?
Just thought it sort of interesting and wanted to share.

Bob...that's way too high !!

Below are 4 links selling the exact same gun...print them out, and go back to that Pawn shop better equipped to deal with that chisler...if he doesn't come down...then walk...his loss, not yours Bro !!

( $375 OTD is as high as I would go...he eats the tax and transfer fee )

Mine is made in the early 60s the bluing is faded a bit. I bought it almost two years ago for $205 out the door. I have noticed since then though that prices have generally gone up. I would let that one go if I were you.

Thanks guys. I thought that was kinda high. Really wanted to try a semi auto shotgun this time around anyway. There's a rem 1100 LT 20Ga for 495. I think I can get for 400 or so.I'll stay focused on that.

Its hard to walk away man... Not so much for me as my firearms fund is shallow at best. Lots of deals I would have liked to make work on guns I dont see very often if ever, and some I really wanted.

I've seen some nice ones in pawn shops, but they dont often have the best deals.

For me, I have a couple "must have" guns. If I ever come across them, I'll sell kidneys, livers spleens, kids and dogs and whatever.

Anyone seen an M14 anywhere?

I'm no expert, but I think so too.

The M37s are FANTASTIC shotguns, but another big part of their allure (to me at least) is that they can be had for ridiculously low prices. I got my 20g M37 on gunbroker for $159 a few months ago, my second 16ga was only $111. If you're wanting another M37, just keep an eye out and one will turn up for a great price.
