Went rabbit hunting today with dad, my best friend, and a good pack of dogs. We got meat too. The best part is that dad and I took our new Ithaca 37's. dad's is an almost mint 1968 20 gauge 26 inch modified.
Mine, a 1948 16 gauge, 26 inch imp cyl. I say "new" because the wood and metal are 100% (minus four little lines on the mag tube where it's been pumped a couple of times)! No powder residue, and I even cleaned cosmoline out of the receiver and off the barrel! It's a new gun! It's sweet and pumps like its on ball bearings.
I don't know how it survived so long in this shape. But I sure am glad to have it! Oh, and yes it shoots MOR (minute of rabbit) too!
Hopefully pics tomorrow!

Trench, I can honestly say I have never had a bad day hunting with a dog. --Jim

Me niether, some days were very long when the pup wanted to keep hunting, she loved the snows, and I learned to shoot the 25th shell and she would come running to se what I was shooting at.

Yes sir Jim, beagles. I do love hunting with beagle hounds.
Trenchgun, I've pulled tht trick to, shooting to get the dogs to come back. Sometimes I wonder who's smarter, me or the dogs. |

Awesome specimen Colonel !!
...and I never...ever...had a bad day huntin' !! |

Beagles are great, though I use the larger hounds around here, they traverse that rocky terrain better. And that is one helluva 37 you got yourself. Looks factory new. --Jim

Thanks to modern technology, I can just Beep her in. But yea, my uncle used to shoot to get them to return. Worse part of this year wasn't the lack of game, but that the terrain around here was so messed up from Sandy I couldn't take my hound out for a few runs. --Jim

Raven, it is factory new! I cleaned cosmoline off of the barrel and from the inside. Who inte world kerosene a gun new for 64 years? Surely not me! No safe queens allowed at my house!

That is a once in a life time pick. Very well done!
