I am wondering if you have a 3 inch barrel installed on a 2&3/4 inch receiver. Does the serial number on the side of the receiver start with MAG? If not you probably have a 2&3/4 only frame.

Just because the barrel says 3 inch does not mean that the receiver is capable of handling 3 inch shells. You can put a 3 inch barrel on any post 855,000 serial number receiver. Is there a MAG prefix to the serial number on the receiver?
